Peep the Leaves
Between thick, spruce and pine forests, iconic aspen trees make themselves known this time of year. The best time for leaf peeping is mid-September to early October. If you’re chasing fall colors this season, add these spots to your list.
Cripple Creek
45 Minutes
Take the 45-min drive along the Gold Belt Tour Scenic and Historic Byway to the Cripple Creek District, a National Historic Landmark, riddled with gold. Stroll through history in the streets, in the museums and by train in this historically rich mining town. Time your visit with their Fall Festival celebration for peak leaf peeping and fall feels.
Seven Bridges
3.4 Miles | 8 Minutes
Head to Seven Bridges Trail, where you’ll cross a series of wooden bridges in a stunning natural setting. Continue beyond the seventh bridge to find a golden Aspen Grove.
Catamount Trail
6 Miles | 2-4 Hours
Head to the small neighboring town of Green Mountain Falls and take the 6-mile round trip hike on Catamount Trail. The star of the show here is The Garden of Eden, a gorgeous open field with sweeping views of Pikes Peak.
Cultural Immersion & Sights to See
Arts Month
Each October, Art Month unfurls with visual/culinary, theater/film, poetry, prose/comedy, and music/dance themed programming. Visit the Fine Arts Center, take a self-guided tour of public art, sign up for a class, or grab tickets to a show. When you stay with us, Jazz Thursdays, The Vault gallery, and pop up art classes at BLK MGK, are just outside your door.
Soar Above The Springs
There’s just something about a view from the skies. Meet the Adventures Out West flight team at sunrise for an early morning hot air balloon ride above plains. Back at the hotel, ground yourself with lunch at BLK MGK, and seize the rest of your day in the Springs.
Hop in the car and hit Pikes Peak Highway to the Springs’ famous Pikes Peak summit. You’ll drive 19-miles up “America’s Mountain” with views of the surrounding landscape. Be sure to stop into the Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center for their donuts (we love their cinnamon sugar).
Horseback Riding
Dig into a true western experience–via horseback. As the leaves turn vibrant shades of orange and gold, saddle up and explore scenic trails surrounded by breathtaking autumn landscapes. Book a tour with Academy Riding Stables and see Garden of the Gods from a new perspective.
